General Firewood up to 8' long

PLEASE NOTE: These are long lengths (up to 8ft) for you to cut, split and dry.

Hardwood Firewood – Trailer Load (4m³)

Mixed hardwood (oak, ash, hornbeam etc.) cut from the estate's own woodland. Delivered in long lengths, from a few inches to over a foot in diameter, for you to cut and split yourself.

Delivery

Charged one way from TN30 7LR to your postcode:

• £1.50/mile for the first 8 miles
• £3/mile from 8 to 16 miles
• £6/mile beyond 16 miles

We'll call to arrange a delivery date after you order. This can take up to two weeks. Delivery covers tipping only; we don't stack logs. Please make sure there's clear space for the trailer to reverse and tip, at least two car lengths.

Drying your wood

This wood isn't ready to burn yet. Burn wood only once its moisture content is 20% or less. Wet wood produces smoke and harmful particulates, damages stoves and chimneys, and gives off little heat.

Stack it somewhere sunny and well ventilated for at least two years, and keep rain off it over winter. It's ready when the ends show radial cracks and the bark comes away easily. To check, split a log and test the fresh face with a calibrated moisture meter.

Safety

All firewood can spit when burnt, whatever the species or moisture level. Only burn it in an enclosed stove or behind a well-fitting fireguard.
