Vitelotte – the original French purple heritage variety. Dating back to the early 19^th century this purple skinned and purple fleshed potato has a chestnutty flavour and is rich in anti-oxidants. Quite a versatile variety you can cook it in most ways to add a splash of colour to your meals. Try it in a salad, roasted or use it to make gnocchi or gratin.

Being one of our colourful varieties, Vitelotte is rich in antioxidants. As well as the fact that potatoes are very low in sugar and salt and are gluten- and fat-free this variety is definitely one to try if you are looking for a healthy meal option.

About this variety

The original French purple heritage variety, dating back to the early 19th century, grown in Kent.

Storing your potatoes

When you receive your potatoes we advise you keep them in cool, dark, dry, frost-free conditions during the winter months. Stored correctly they should keep well for up to a month.

In spring and summer you may prefer to refrigerate them. They'll try to grow once the warmer weather arrives, as we don't spray our potatoes with any sprout-inhibiting chemicals. Kept in the fridge they should last a couple of weeks.

A note on seed potatoes

All our varieties are grown from certified seed stock. If you'd like to grow your own, some of our varieties are available as seed potatoes in early spring - get in touch to find out what's available.

Delivery information
