White Flesh

Yukon Gold

£4.75 – £40.00

Yukon Gold is deceptively plain in appearance; with a white skin and flesh you would be forgiven for questioning our passion for this potato. However, as I'm sure you can guess (or know) already, this is no ordinary spud.

A traditional Canadian variety, Yukon Gold is one of our best all-rounders (though calling them such doesn't feel like it does them justice). A fluffy, yet slightly waxy, texture makes them the perfect base for whatever flavours you introduce them to and with a slightly sweet taste of their own they are a moreish and satisfying meal in their own right. We recommend roasting, wedging, mashing and chipping this variety as they are soft and light but will crisp up if treated well.

Chef/Patron of Michelin starred The West House, Graham Garrett says the 'Yukon Gold seem to absorb more butter and cream than any other potato I know'.

Yukon Gold will be available from September 2028. While you are waiting, why not try Arja, British Queen, King Edward or Wilja

About this variety

Bred in Ontario, Canada and released in 1980, grown in Kent.

Storing your potatoes

When you receive your potatoes we advise you keep them in cool, dark, dry, frost-free conditions during the winter months. Stored correctly they should keep well for up to a month.

In spring and summer you may prefer to refrigerate them. They'll try to grow once the warmer weather arrives, as we don't spray our potatoes with any sprout-inhibiting chemicals. Kept in the fridge they should last a couple of weeks.

A note on seed potatoes

All our varieties are grown from certified seed stock and are destined for your table. We do not supply any certified seed potatoes.
